Consultations

The path from first call to written recommendation

Financial advice works best when both sides know the rhythm. Here is how a Hearthstone consultation typically unfolds for retirement, transfer, and protection work.

Small team meeting around a table with notebooks and coffee
  1. Discovery call (30–40 minutes)

We listen to the decision you face — retiring early, reading a CETV letter, or checking family cover — and confirm whether we are the right practice. No fee for this first conversation. If we are not a fit, we say so and, where we can, suggest another type of professional.

  2. Engagement letter & fee confirmation

Before analysis begins you receive a written scope, fee, and timeline. You instruct us only when that letter is clear. Work already started is covered in our refund and cancellation policy.

  3. Document gathering

Pension statements, protection schedules, mortgage figures, and wills (if relevant) arrive by secure upload or post. Incomplete packs slow the timeline more than almost anything else — we send a checklist after you instruct us.

  4. Analysis & recommendation meeting

We present findings at our Bosco Green office, by video, or at your home by arrangement. You receive a written report. Implementation support follows only where you ask us to proceed with applications or provider liaison.

What to bring to the first proper meeting

  • Latest pension and investment statements
  • State Pension forecast if you have one
  • A rough monthly household budget
  • Existing life, critical illness, or income protection schedules
  • Notes on retirement date options or dependants you need to provide for

Meetings usually last 60–90 minutes. Couples are welcome; we find shared decisions stick better when both hear the same explanation.
